Our Yard

As a child, I never understood why my parents spent so much time working on their yard. It seemed like every weekend, that's all they did (and still do). Now I kind of get it. There is something really satisfying about sitting on your porch with a cold beer or glass of wine at the end of a long day of working in the yard, and admiring your work.
This is the first house that we've really been able to make the yard our own. Our first house was already landscaped, which we never cared for, but never took the time to re-do. We didn't live in our second house long enough to get the chance to do anything. So, I've been really excited about this yard. It started as a blank slate, except for a few bushes planted in the front by the builder.
We have built a fence, planted trees and bushes, and with some help from my dad, added a large flower bed in the back yard. This weekend we finished what I have been calling "phase 1". Scott's thrilled that I've told him we're done for the year. Especially since he doesn't like working in the yard as much as I do, but somehow gets stuck with the hard jobs! He's a good sport though.

I thought I would share a few pictures of our work...
The front yard. We didn't do much, but added some azaleas and jasmine.

The hydrangeas and knockout roses in the back.

The flower bed we added with a Cleveland Pear tree, azaleas, gardenias and crape myrtle.

My little garden helper!

The trailing gardenias and my tomatoes!

A tomato!!

Blowing bubbles on the porch.

And more bubbles in the yard.

We love the cozy coupe!
